Sowing and Reaping
To sow = to plant seeds / To reap = to gather a crop
On 2-4-1985, Rev. Dick Mills gave me a prophetic word which included, “…plant seeds everywhere, someone else sowed - you are going to reap the harvest, all kinds of mud (clear, dirty, watery), plant seeds along all waters...” I’ve learned,
We must sow the seeds of the gospel of Jesus Christ to produce a harvest of souls.
It’s been very challenging planting seeds everywhere, but what a joy it’s been when we’ve been able to reap the harvest. Psalm 126:5-6 rings true,
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”
Paul illustrates the principle of sowing and reaping to the Galatians, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (6:7-9) Dr. Charles Stanley builds upon this principle:
“You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow.”
The principle of sowing and reaping is good news for those sowing the seeds of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Foursquare Multiply Catalyst Pete Akins recently exhorted and encouraged church planters:
“Without faithful planters, the harvest will never come,” but “with time and attention, the fruit will come in due season.”
Isaiah 55:10-11 confirms, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Therefore,
Let’s continue to proclaim God’s word!
